This is eight days Tibet cycling tour which starts from Lhasa to Namtso Lake. During this journey, you will be stunned by the traditional buildings and holy temples like the Potala Palace, Johkang Temple, Barkor Street, the natural scenery like the blue sky, high mountains and broad grasslands.
Day One: Lhasa Arrival
There are two main ways for travelers to get to Lhasa. The one is to take a train to Tibet, and the other is to take an airplane to Tibet. When you arrive at the Tibetan airport, you will meet your tour guide. Then, your tour guide will drive you to your hotel in Lhasa. It will take travelers half an hour to drive from the airport to your hotel. Before your arrival at the hotel, you will catch a glimpse of the beautiful Brahmaputra river along the Lhasa-airport highway. When you arrive at the Tibetan train station, you will meet your tour guide and you will be picked up to your hotel immediately. The duration time from the train station to your hotel is about twenty minutes. After you reach your hotel, you can arrange the time by yourself. If you are tired, you can have a rest in your hotel. If you want to walk around Lhasa city, you can have a walk on the square and take some photos.
Day Two: Lhasa Tour
Today, you will visit three famous scenic spots for your Lhasa Tour, including Potala Palace, Johkang Temple, Barkor Street. First, you will visit Potala Palace. In the ancient time, it was a winter palace for Dalai Lama, while at present, it is a modern museum in Lhasa. There are some famous and cherish antiques such as the gilded burial stupas of former Dalai Lamas and meditation Cave of the 33rd great king of Tibet. Next, you will visit Jokhang Temple. Built in the seventh century, Jokhang Temple is regarded as a holy place for pilgrims from remote areas. Every year, lots of pilgrims come here to do a pray. Then, you will walk around on Barkhor street where you can buy many traditional goods and souvenirs from local Tibetan stores. You can also drink a cup of tea in a local tea house.
Day Three: Lhasa Tour
Today, you will visit two famous Tibetan attractions, Drepung and Sera Monastery. Drepung Monastery and Sera Monastery are one of the “great three” Gelug monasteries of Tibet. You will see the famous Monks debate held in Sera Monastery.
Day Four: Cycling From Lhasa to Damxung
Today you will have a cycle tour from Lhasa to Damxung. The whole distance between the two places is about one hundred and fifty five kilometers. The road condition is good for travelers.
Day Five: Cycling from Damxung to Namtso
Today, you will cycle through a high snow mountain called Nyenchen Thanglha, and the most difficult way is the Mt. Nagenla Pass. After getting through the pass, you will arrive at Namtso Lake.
Day Six: Cycling from Namtso to Yangpachen
After enjoying the natural views along Namtso Lake, you will cycle to Yangpachen via the Tashi Dor Island.
Day Seven: Cycle from Yangpachen to Lhasa
You will cycle back to Lhasa.
Day Eight: Leave from Lhasa
Your tour guide will send you to the airport or train station. Your trip comes to an end.
